Product descriptions with specific visual details outperform generic templates. This extracts those details and structures them for conversion.

Use case

For ecommerce stores where every new product needs a description and the catalogue is large enough that writing each from scratch is impractical. The output gives you a draft including colour, material, and visible features — review-and-edit, not write-from-scratch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The AI analyzes your product photo and identifies visible features — materials, colors, style, design details, apparent use cases, and quality indicators. It then generates a complete product description formatted for your chosen platform, including a compelling headline, benefit-focused body copy, and feature bullet points optimized for that marketplace's conventions.

Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, WooCommerce, and General. Each generates platform-appropriate copy: Amazon emphasizes searchable features and specifications; Etsy focuses on handmade quality and personal story; Shopify balances features with lifestyle appeal; WooCommerce uses clean, conversion-focused copy.

Yes — completely free. No signup needed. Generate descriptions for as many products as you need.

Four tones: Professional (authoritative, feature-focused), Conversational (friendly, speaks directly to the customer), Luxury (elevated, aspirational, sensory language), and Minimal (clean, concise, no-fluff). Select the tone that matches your brand voice.

The AI accurately captures colors, apparent materials, style, and visible design features. For specific details the AI can't see — exact dimensions, weight, material composition, country of origin — add these manually after generating the base description.

Yes — descriptions include relevant search keywords naturally integrated into the copy. Amazon descriptions prioritize searchable terms; Shopify and WooCommerce use natural language SEO. The copy reads naturally while incorporating terms customers actually search for on each marketplace.

Yes — and you should. The generated description is an excellent starting point that captures visual features accurately, but add specific details the AI can't see (dimensions, weight, material percentages), your brand voice nuances, and any selling points unique to your product story.

Yes — select Etsy for handmade, artisan, or vintage products. The Etsy-optimized description emphasizes craftsmanship, uniqueness, and the personal touch that Etsy buyers look for, using language that resonates with the Etsy buyer mindset.

How to use AI product descriptions without sounding like a Shopify template

An AI product description tool reads a product photo and writes a description for an ecommerce listing. The mechanical part is solved — the model identifies the product, its visible attributes, and its likely category, then produces serviceable copy. The interesting work is what you edit before publishing. Below is a short editorial primer on what makes ecommerce copy different from other writing, and what to do with the output of this tool.

Each platform expects a different shape

Product descriptions are not interchangeable across ecommerce platforms. Each one has different conventions, different character limits, and different structural expectations:

Shopify. Two paragraphs of flowing prose plus a bulleted feature list. Length: 150-300 words. The brand-voice paragraph comes first; the spec list comes second. SEO benefit comes from the prose, not the bullets.

Amazon. Five-bullet feature list as the primary description, plus a longer A+ content block for branded sellers. Each bullet starts with a benefit-oriented capitalised phrase. Amazon’s search algorithm weighs bullet content heavily; the prose A+ section is mostly for human readers.

Etsy. Conversational first-person prose. Length: 100-200 words. Highlights craft details, materials, and the maker’s perspective. Generic descriptions underperform here — buyers are looking for the human story.

WooCommerce / generic ecommerce. Variable, but the dominant pattern is short prose (75-150 words) plus a structured spec table for filterable attributes. The tool defaults to this format.

Why AI product copy reads generic by default

Vision-language models are good at identifying what a product is and what its visible attributes are. They are weak at the layer that turns a description into a sales pitch — the brand voice, the tone calibration to a specific audience, the choice of which features to lead with based on what your particular customer cares about.

The result: AI-generated product copy reads as accurate but undifferentiated. “A black leather wallet with eight card slots and a billfold compartment” describes the wallet correctly, but it doesn’t differentiate it from the 200 other black leather wallets a buyer is comparing it against. The differentiation is the part the human still has to write.

The tool produces the descriptive layer well. The brand-voice and differentiation layers are where you edit.

Three edits most AI product descriptions need

1. Replace the opening line with a benefit, not a feature. The AI typically opens with a feature description (“This black leather wallet has eight card slots…”). Replace with the benefit that feature delivers (“Stop sitting on a fat wallet — eight slim card slots in a billfold thinner than your phone”). The feature list comes later.

2. Add one specific detail only your product has. The AI cannot know that the leather is sourced from a specific tannery, that the stitching is done by hand, that you offer free monogramming, or that there’s a real lifetime warranty. One specific differentiator turns generic copy into your copy.

3. Match the spec list to the platform’s filterable attributes. If your platform has filters for material, dimensions, color, and care instructions, your spec list should hit those exact fields in that exact order. Buyers filter before they read, so the description you write is for the buyer who already passed the filter.

When this tool is the wrong choice

Two cases where reaching for an AI product description generator is not the right move.

You’re selling on Etsy or another craft-driven marketplace. The first-person maker voice is the value. AI drafts strip the personality that drives Etsy purchases. Write it yourself, even if it takes longer.

The product is heavily regulated. Supplements, medical devices, financial products, and similar regulated categories require copy that complies with specific advertising rules. The AI does not know your category’s compliance requirements and will sometimes generate language that triggers rejection (e.g., implied health claims on supplements). For these, start from a compliance-checked template and adapt by hand.
